Just a week after this record 546, Rizvi Springfield's
Prithvi Shaw smashed 188 against Hansraj Morarji in a Harris Shield encounter, this time with a bruised knee. Hansraj's medium pacer Padalia Mikin dismissed Prithvi with a full toss - the 14-year-old failed to clear deep midwicket. He played 192 balls and smashed 24 fours and two sixes.
Prithvi had sustained injuries on both the knees while putting in a dive during a Kanga League 'A' Division match at the Cross Maidan on Sunday.
Prithvi represented Parel Sporting Cricket Club against National Cricket Club.
"I was comfortable when I entered the ground, but as soon as I started running between the wickets and stretched while playing my shots, I felt a burning sensation on my knees. My pants and pads were brushing my knee and it was hurting. Since I was out for a duck in the Kanga match on Sunday, I wanted to play well. I'm unlucky to have missed out on a double century," Prithvi said, adding that he should regain full fitness within two days.
Rizvi Springfield coach Raju Pathak said, "Prithvi wasn't complaining about his bruises. As a captain, he keeps setting examples."
Brief scores: Rizvi Springfield 375/6 (Prithvi Shaw 188, Jain Deepak 62) vs Hansraj Morarji)
